About Us
Basically we are the original bunch of idiots. Our primary objective is to find comradery and fraternity through restoration of what were once, unwanted, Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth products discarded in yards and parking lots all over the south shore of Massachusetts. Lets face it, these cars were being given away and unlike GM products, the power trains from late 1950-s through mid 1970's Mopars transfer easily from one platform to another. In laymans terms, it is far easier to jam a 440 automatic from a 67 Newport into a 70 Duster than it is to take a 455 from a Bonneville and squeeze into a Camaro.
THE BARN-Our First Album
After the primary idiots, Jack Siderwicz and Brendan King graduated from College (Wentworth and NU), we went to work at our first barn at an undisclosed location in Westwood, MA basically collecting, dis-assembling and re-building some of the most wacked out Mopars ever seen for road duty. In that era (1989-1997) we produced cool rides for our annual pilgrimage to the Mopar Nationals in Columbis, Ohio. Such road trip machines include the 400 push-button 62 Newport, Davey Alty's "zany plumb crazy" 71 Road Runner, the $200.00 66 Charger with the "semi-hemi" 318, the first ever "fake" 74 Road Runner 360. These cars all became movie stars in later films such as "The Pull Me Over RoadRunner", "The 62 C-Body that beat the Chevy's on Brice Road" and "Mystic Charger" (this film is unrated). These films were great documentaies and demonstrated incredible ingenuity, braun and street sense. How else do you get 3600 pounds of iron, four idots per car and 9 cases of beer to Ohio form Boston in 12 hours without a speedometer and gas gauge. Think we missed the the calling to work at NASA managing calculations for space flights?
I think your're right!
GARAGE
At about the time Metallica released their "Garage Album", we had to leave the Westwood Barn and release our own new "Garage" . Our new landlord at Barn was talking to developers about the Barn and the surrounding area known as Lyman Pond being a candidate for Westwood's first Section 40-B housing project. Before the towns people could make it the Barn with pitchfolks, scythes and hanging rope (think of the Witch Scene from Monty Pythons The Holy Grail), we built the slighly more modern Garage at an undisclosed location in Norwood, MA.
Since 1997, we have continued to produce cars and sub-assemblies for our charter members and or celebrity friends (that would be limited to Dave Delaney). We have carried a few tradition from the old Barn to the new Garage.
We have long scrapped the Mopar Nationals (too hot, too long, too many cops, too much work) and traded for Chrysler's at Carlisle (comfortable climate complete with trees, 8 hours away, never seen a cop yet, more of a party so no real work, Hooters is nearby). We have added the Annual Early Ford V8 Nationals, and this year the GM Nationals at Carlisle.
We meet every Thursday night (we picked up this habit in college) Annual Garage Xmas Party which features an Academy Award Style ceremony for "Party Of The Year" and "Garage Dude" of the year.
Our Charter members include:
Mark "Mel" Inatosca, Mark "The Fence" Williams (67 Lemans), Howie Pelligrino (Hemi Challenger), Rick Pelligrino (68 Charger), Chris Hartgrove (68 GTX), Matt King (86 Boston Whaler), Chris Siderwicz, (57 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer D-500 and any airplane not equipped with jet engines), Ishmail, Silent Rich, Scotty Mac, Chairman Kelleher, Bob King (37 Ford, 40 Ford, 57 Belair and some Trans Ams), Dave Delaney (A whole Pontiac Dealership), "Trash Man Steve" 68 Charger, Dave "Billy Alty" 71 Road Runner, Curt Maxon, 70 Buick Geroge Williams (Challengers) Jose Estramera (Smoke Wrench)
