1965 Impala 396
This car was ordered by a resident of Brockway, PA with a 396 cubic inch 325 hp engine. 396 engines were not uncommon but most were installed in Chevelles and Impala Super Sports thus this bench seat Impala is quite rare. The all important Protect-O-Plate, which is the only way to validate its numbers matching status, accompanies the vehicle. It has 45,000 documented miles and is in exceptional condition.
Following the first owner, there were two additional in the 1980s and 1990's, both in the Brockway/Brockport area. Documentation shows that it had been driven a total of only 41,000 miles through 1981. Each of those two owners used the car infrequently but maintained it in excellent condition.
It was sold to a noted car collector and former campaign racer Don Fezell of PA in 1994. He had the car repainted and stored it until 2005 when he sold it to the current owner. It was purchased in Carlisle, PA at the All GM Nationals and driven to Norwood MA in June 2006. It has since been moved to Bartlett, NH where it is driven during the warm weather months.
Since being purchased the brake hydraulics, including the steel fluid lines, flex lines, wheel cylinders and master cylinder have been replaced.
Scheduled for replacement are the belts and hoses to assure factory correctness. Minor cosmetic changes in the engine bay are planned as well.
In exterior appearance the car is known as a cheater with its blackwall tires and dog dish hubcaps. The only give-away is the emblem on the front fenders. It is very fast but would it get killed by an big block Mopar in the 1/4 mile street heats.
